The Hypodermic Syringe theory is thought to "inject" the audience with ideas, attitudes and beliefs.
This theory has an increasing effect on the younger generation which causes children to become act more violent. So much that the government are considering moving the prosecution age to 14. This outcome has been cause in media such as films, TV programs and Video games which involve violence and drug taking.
The Media has caused a percentage of young girls to think drinking and dressing inappropriately is acceptable which has caused an increasing amount of reports of abuse from males the same age or older. It is also beginning to portray that girls are being accepted to be apart of "gangs" and can cause dilemmas that Gangs are portrayed as.
However on the other hand some media influences suggest that women and young girls are weaker and more vulnerable to others around them (particularly in darker times)
I believe that the younger generation are more influenced than the older generation because it is mainly adults that display such events on the media- causing them to think it is right.
This is what I have applied to my AS courseWork. It shows a young girl in captivity of an old man who is abusive of her (shown by her bruised eye). On the other hand it also cautions young girls to be more aware of their surroundings and time of when they go out. (Particularly in a park which is where she was last sighted)
